The Mining Camp Restaurant opened its doors to the public in 1961. It is built of rough sawn Ponderosa Pine hauled from Payson, Arizona. Today it still follows the theme of the early mining camp cook shanty. Cook shanties and good food are synonymous, as any old-time miner can tell you. A replica of the old-mining camp cook shanty sits today at the base of the mysterious Superstition Mountains, along the romantic Apache Trail.
