In 1999, Karen had a dream to open her own Day Spa. With the encouragement from her family and friends she embarked on her journey to make her dream come true. She started giving massages in a dressing room closet of her friend`s Tae Kwon Do Studio. Her clientele consisted of parents whose children were taking classes. There was barely any room to walk around her table but that didn`t bother her as she pressed on toward her goal. 3 years later she rented her first space. A whopping 400 sq. feet! She was a one-woman show from massaging every client, being her own receptionist, and bringing home the laundry every night to wash. Her college education was in the medical field and massage therapy. She had to learn the aspects of running a business. Through trials, a lot of errors, a lot of tears and perseverance, Absolute Beauty has grown into an award winning day spa in Evansville, IN. The company employs 25 people and continues to grow to this day. In September 2010, she incorporated the front of her spa into a boutique. Absolute Beauty carries unique clothing from contemporary to little rock-country styles. The spa also carries bareMinerals make up, shoes, jewelry and other fun accessories. My mother, hands down. I grew up watching my parents start a family business in our house when I was growing up. Now their business is in the 3rd generation in my family. She has cheered me on all the way. I hope my daughters will want to be a part of Absolute Beauty when they are grown. They have made a lot of sacrifices too for having a mother that started a small business. Absolute Beauty started literally with your two hands massaging every client. What is your role in the company now? I am more involved in local events and networking Absolute Beauty Day Spa and Boutique to the public. Before I had to work so much IN my business, now I get to work ON my business. Launching Titus Cole will be a good part of my job because I am going to sell it nationally to other spas and small businesses. I`m also excited that I get to order all the new styles and fashions for the Boutique, which has been a blast. As an added bonus, I will bring in a little country rock fashion to our city.
