I wanted to talk to you a little bit about what it's like to be a new Christian, as opposed to all of you who grew up in church. The only exposure to church that I got as a kid, was when I slept over at a friend's house on Saturday night and they drug me to church with them. I was also dragged to a week long church camp, and a vacation bible school. My impression back then was that I wasn't dressed well enough and everyone was looking down at me, and the preacher was really intense and kind of scared me. I didn't understand what he was talking about and I admit, I dozed off. When I was away at church camp with my friend, I quickly got homesick, because I was extremely shy, and the girls showers were all open. I wanted to go home, but I had to tough it out. I snuck in the bathroom later at night when the other girls were getting ready for bed, and I quickly washed, scared to death someone would come in. But I toughed it out, and started having fun. We had a revival night and I was over come with the spirit and I went down the isle to be saved. I didn't really know what it all meant but I felt it right then and there. Of course when I went home, I soon forgot about it, and the only exposure I got as a young adult was at funerals. We would always say that our loved one is in a better place because it was comforting, and I always thought good people went to heaven.
