United Ministries provides financial assistance to families in crisis who have emergency needs such as housing and utilities and to provide counseling which offers hope, encouragement and spiritual guidance. We are a community partnership of many different churches and individuals who volunteer time and resources to provide emergency aid to the less fortunate members of our community. Your donation to United Ministries goes directly to help a family in need. In addition to contributions, we are always looking for volunteers. Almost 30 volunteers and one paid director carry out the activities of United Ministries. The mission of United Ministries is to provide financial assistance to families in crisis who have emergency needs such as housing and utilities and to provide counseling which offers hope, encouragement and spiritual guidance. United Ministries carries out its mission via a screening process:- UM keeps extensive files on past clients. UM calls utility companies or landlords to verify past due bills. UM requests proof of income, expenses, and other social services received. UM never gives cash. Checks are written to the creditor. UM asks clients to pay part of the overdue bill, if possible. UM networks with other agencies for emergencies. UM listens, counsels, makes referrals, and prays with clients (with client’s permission).
