Avalon Swing is an energetic and entertaining jazz/dance band in Sacramento, California. Avalon Swing plays the classic jazz and swing melodies of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and Nat King Cole, and more! From romantic ballads to lively dance numbers, Shelley Burns and Avalon Swing will make your special event exciting and unforgettable. Avalon Swing has been invited to Sacramento Jazz Jubilee for the past nineteen years. Shelley Burns sings with incredible range, style and passion,and charms every audience. Shelley performed as a special guest artist at the 1996 International Jazz & Blues Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has also performed with numerous jazz legends,including Abe Most, Bob Baker, Gene Estes and Bob Draga, and, most recently (2006) for three weeks in Athens, Greece with the Andreas Thermos Quartet. The course I offer is intended to help you develop your vocal ability by strengthening your vocal cords, using your voice correctly, learning to warm up properly, increasing your range, flexibility, control, endurance, and improving your musical "ear" so that you may match pitches more accurately. I also cover issues of health as they relate to the care of your voice. The style of music which you wish to sing makes no difference.
