Mr. Schlaffer received his Bachelor of Music Degree in cello performance from Southern Methodist University in 1999. He was awarded the Meadows School of Music full artistic scholarship, from 1996 to 1999, while studying with world-renowned solo cellist, Ko Iwasaki. In 2001, under the tutelage of Hans Jorgen Jensen, he completed a Masters of Music Degree in cello performance at North western University in Chicago, Illinois. While he was a student in Chicago, Mr. Schlaffer performed on occasion as cello substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He also played as principal cellist in the Chicago Civic Orchestra, which performed in Carnegie Hall in March of 2000 under the baton of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's music director, Daniel Barenboim.
