John P. Martinez is an Albuquerque native and is recognized as one of the area`s premier solo guitarists. He has performed for such dignitaries as Coretta Scott King, Colin Powell, President Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton. As accompanist for singer/songwriter Glynn David Harris he had the privilege of performing with Gloria Estefan and Hooty and the Blowfish at the January 20, 1997 Tennessee Inaugural Ball. Local performance venues include 5 years at Barcelona Court Hotel, 3.5 yrs. at Maria Theresa`s Restaurant, 3 yrs. at Pelicans Restaurant, 15 years at The NM Arts & Crafts Fair, 15 years at the Rio Grande Arts & Crafts Fair plus countless Weddings / Receptions, Artist Openings, Private Parties, Christmas Parties, TV & radio, etc. As a graduate of the UNM Classical Guitar Program and Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles you can expect a delightful mix of Core Classical Guitar music, Jazz standards and Contemporary Acoustic guitar.
