Tom Kersey is a freelance musician living and working in Tampa, Florida. He offers his talent and passion for music to the world as a performer, educator, and composer...A musician of uncommon versatility, cellist and composer Tom Kersey defies classification. Over the years, Tom has taken part in a great variety of performances, such as orchestra concerts, chamber music and solo recitals, jazz gigs, rock concerts, art openings, wine tastings, free jazz/experimental music performances, world music concerts, and over one hundred wedding ceremonies and receptions. Weddings, anniversaries, art openings, wine tastings, parties, corporate functions, restaurants, coffee shops, dinners. Styles: Classical, jazz/blues, rock/fusion, experimental, Instrumentations: Solo cello, violin and cello, guitar and cello, many more by request...Teaching music is one of Tom's great passions, and he has been doing so for about a decade. Tom teaches lessons at Excel Music in New Tampa, as well as private lessons in his home and in his students' homes. Lessons offered are: Cello (beginner to advanced), guitar, bass (beginner to intermediate), violin/viola (beginner to intermediate), piano/keyboard (beginner to intermediate), music theory and composition (beginner to advanced), His original music incorporates many of his favorite styles, such as punk, jazz, classical, experimental, and world music. His work has been performed by the Florida Orchestra, at Symphony Space in New York City, and while studying music at the University of South Florida Tom came to be regarded as a most talented and original composer.
