Dr. Shelley Wiest offers private instruction in harp and piano, combined with music listening techniques and the study of music theory.  Written materials and computer programs enhance her teaching. Weekly lessons can be arranged in increments of 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Her instruction style is considered one of guided discovery, in which she teaches solid, mainstream musicianship, where each student learns to be well versed in reading and performing basic music literature, listening to and identifying styles and characteristics of compositions throughout the eras, and writing musical terminology and nomenclature on the grand musical staff. Each student is given the option of choosing his or her particular styles of music to be incorporated into the lessons as well, and practice time is determined by the age of the student and the length of the lesson.
