Diamond Furniture was founded in 1927 by Herman S. Diamond. The company began selling small items door-to-door, allowing customers to pay a small amount weekly on their account. Eventually, customers began asking for small appliances and furniture.  And soon, the first Diamond store was opened by the Diamond Family, Tom Stoeckle, and a small staff. Diamond Furniture grew quickly, and even as they moved into new locations, they always remained a part of the Kensington community of Philadelphia. In order to survive during this tragic time, the Diamond Family decided to sell direct from their warehouse offering low prices to raise cash rather than offering customers store credit. To everyone's amazement, this new approach generated more sales and customer interest than ever before.
