Frances Klein's inspired blending of old world sophistication with a tasteful splash of Hollywood sparkle exemplifies the style which helped to create Rodeo Drive's international reputation. Originally opening her shop in 1960, Frances Klein has been credited with the revival of fine antique and estate jewels in the United States. In bold defiance of the 1960's fashion trends, Frances Klein passionately promoted the inherent beauty, rarity and unparalleled craftmanship of jewels from the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco periods. For four decades Frances Klein Classic Jewels has welcomed luminaries ranging from rock stars to royalty. The Art Nouveau design movement arose in the 1890's, with emphasis on intricate curving and detail with natural, primarily marine subject matter and coloring. The style transformed the decorative arts of many countries and brought about fresh inspiration throughout the Fin de Siècle-Belle Époque, a beautiful time at the end of the century. Art Deco jewelry motifs include: Cubism, geometric, Egyptian, Oriental, floral and abstract designs. Two driving forces of the Art Deco era include the women's suffrage movement and the machine age. Women were beginning to exert their independence and the jewelry of the time reflected this jewelry design.
