I can remember as a boy of seven or eight years of age taking the bus to the store, says Karl Shrode, Jr. I used to sweep floors and do other odd jobs to help the family business. One could say I learned the family business from the ground up. Everything was on Main Street in those days, and as I recall, Shrode Jewelers was only the second store in town to install air conditioning."
