"Got married on Sept 3rd. Hired Jim as our photographer several months back. He did so much more then just taking pictures. To start he came to the wedding rehearsal at no extra charge just because he wanted to see how we were going to set up and to see where he could be to take picture. During the rehearsal he also gave suggestions on what works well and what makes great pictures during the actual ceremony. Then before the actual ceremony he personally walked my grandma down to the area where we would be having the ceremony because my mom had to stay in my room with me to help me put on my dress. Then at the reception he got there at the very start of when we had access to the hall and he was carrying boxes in (heavy ones, like the ones for the bar and helping set table and running all over helping every where he could. During the reception he helped keep us on time and worked with the coordinator keeping us on track. Jim is very out going and did a great job going around on his own taking pictures of people and being at the right spots. My husband and I were very happy with all the service he provided, he went way above and beyond what he was there to do. Another main reason I pick Jim was because he photographs with actual film, which tells me he knows what he is doing since he does not have the option to take 10,000 pictures like you could with a digital. And I really liked that you get to keep your negatives which means no expensive reprints. He prints all the pictures and puts them in a wedding album, gives you two copies of the wedding pictures so that you always have one and if someone wants to borrow them you don't have to worry about them getting damaged because you have two sets, and he gives you a duplicate copy of all the pictures outside of the album. In the wedding album he also creates an index so that you can figure out which sheet of the negatives the picture you are looking for is on. If it's an option that you live near Santa Clara I would hire Jim. Even though he is primarily a wedding photographer I would ask if he would be willing to photograph again if we had another large event like an anniversary. Another reason to hire Jim is because he is flexible, our wedding was actually two separate days in two very different cities. Our ceremony was in Santa Cruz, CA and reception was in San Francisco, CA. We worked it out with Jim and he photographed both days for us. I Even told my friend who is getting married in Hawaii, "Hire Jim and pay his flight out, it will be much cheaper then any other photographer you can find."
