In my 25 years in portrait photography, I have worked in many environments, from football fields and team shots, to the beautiful, elegant environment of the wedding ceremony in every setting you can imagine. I've worked for several studios, (one who used to call you during dinner-sorry) owned several portrait studios (who used to call you during dinner-sorry) and have photographed people on location in barns, boardrooms, movie stars and musicians, a governor and future president, kids in trees, families with horses, guys with motorcycles, and looked into the eyes of thousands of newborn babies throughout Texas and the southwest. I once shot a six-generation portrait, and have had the bittersweet experience of working with terminally ill children. When I walked into my very first camera room, I knew I had found my calling. I loved everything about working with people, the challenge of different personalities, ages, genders and lifestyles of the many people who came to sit in front of my lens throughout the years. And mainly the satisfaction of creating something that most people feel very uncomfortable doing, having a professional portrait made. I understood very early the great responsibility I had to show every individual in the very best light (no pun intended), and to be sensitive to the fact that no matter how "beautiful" a person is, they see all their imperfections first and foremost. My approach to portraiture is to very quickly evaluate how the person is feeling at that moment, and then guide them into feeling relaxed and at ease, so that then, I could help them look fantastic. Rather than just "take your picture", I work closely with my clients to wear the right clothing, co-ordinate colors, and choose a setting that best shows who they are and what they are really like. I consider myself blessed that I have been able to spend my life doing something I truly love and would really do for free, if it weren’t for my kids, expenses and taxes, insurance, food, shelter, well you get it. I strive to build lifetime relationships with all my clients and look forward to meeting you and the ones you love.
