THOR’s history of leadership in the travel industry began in 1977 in Boulder, Colorado, USA, to assist travel agents with their after-hours call volume; known as Thor24. Anticipating a need, THOR created a new service, offering a commissionable and discounted hotel program, which its member travel agencies could recommend to their travelers. During 1999 and 2000, THOR went through two distinct sale transactions and was ultimately sold to Travelport (previously known as Cendant Travel Distribution Services). In March 2006, THOR sold its after-hours call center product (Thor24) to concentrate on further enhancements of its worldwide hotel program, produce award-winning agency publications, and expand its focus to offer new relevant services in the ever changing travel marketplace. THOR’s Worldwide Hotel Program is now the largest and fastest growing program with over 30,500 hotel partners. Currently headquartered just a few miles from Boulder, THOR continues to grow its travel agency memberships and strengthen its supplier partnerships around the world.
