Proprietor Pam Henderson saw a need and filled it way back in 2002. The mother of three daughters (and two sons!), she was very disappointed by the area`s lack of appropriate special occasion and prom wear. She decided to do something about it by opening "Gorgeous Gowns", a 500 square foot shop that catered to a more modest approach to prom dresses. She soon grew into a 1,200 square foot shop and in 2005, "Gorgeous Gowns" and "Camarillo Bridal" merged to become the county`s largest supplier of wedding gowns. Pam is certain that Camarillo Bridal can make EVERY bride beautiful and that is what she instills in all of her consultants. And what`s not to like about the bridal industry? "It`;s really FUN!" Pam says, "Plus, we`re surrounded by beautiful things and beautiful people every day. We`re in the business of making dreams come true, so how could we not just love our jobs?" Pam is particularly excited about her expansion into a 7,200 square foot facility featuring a tuxedo fitting area, a vendor referral library, a prom dress registration area, separate areas for bridal and non-bridal try-ons, and eventually the opportunity to host bridal events and trunk shows. Pam sees nothing but growth in the future having had record-breaking sales the last two years despite the national economic downturn. "Regardless of the economy, women still need wedding gowns," Pam says, "and it`s our job to find them the one they`;ve been dreaming about." Pam has been married to Rex for 30 years and is not only the proud mom of five children, but also a proud grandma of four grandchildren.
