Getting married in Arizona

IMPORTANT NOTE: Marriage laws and license requirements change continually, so please check the latest information with your local marriage license bureau office or county clerk's office before making your wedding or travel plans, and before inviting your guests.

You may apply for a marriage license at the Arizona County Clerk office where you plan to get married. See below for a list of offices.

Who may apply for a marriage license

You do not have to be a resident of Arizona to apply for a marriage license.

If you are under the age of 18, you must have a notarized parental consent form or have your parents accompany you, present the proper identification, and sign the parental consent form in front of the clerk issuing your license.

If you are 16-17, identification and one of the following documents showing proof of ages is needed: a) a certified copy of birth certificate; b) current driver's license; c) state or military I.D.; or d) current passport.

If you are 15 or under, you must also have a court order. To obtain a court order, you must file a motion with the court.

First cousins may marry if both are sixty-five years of age or older or if one or both first cousins are under sixty-five years of age, upon approval of any superior court judge in the state if proof has been presented to the judge that one of the cousins is unable to have children.
