Wedding shoes for him and her

For happy feet, make sure you wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes on your wedding day.

For the bride

The bride should purchase her wedding shoes in good time as they will be needed for dress fittings to ensure that the hem of the gown is altered to the correct length, if necessary.

Your shoes may also need dying to match the color of your bridal gown. You should start to “wear them in” at least one week before the wedding (preferably when your groom is not around!).

For the groom

The groom may have planned to hire shoes along with his tuxedo, but if not, shoes should be bought well in advance so that you have time to “wear them in” at home.

Happy feet!

  • Both the bride and groom should wear their wedding shoes at home to break them in, starting at least a week or two before the big day.

  • Brides: break in your shoes when the groom isn’t around to keep everything about your outfit secret!

  • Wear similar hosiery or socks to those that you will be wearing on your wedding day.

  • Sore feet can really put a damper on your wedding day, so it is important to buy well-fitting shoes and then break them in.

  • If you think your shoes may pinch or cause blisters, either think about buying different shoes, or pack some special blister plasters in your bridal purse just in case. Not very romantic, but neither are wedding day blisters…
