The marriage of H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock – July 2, 2011

The royal wedding

The wedding of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.S.H. Princess Charlene took place over the first weekend of July 2011, with a religious ceremony on Saturday July 2nd, after the civil marriage ceremony on Friday 1st.

The night before

On Thursday June 30, the night before the civil wedding, the couple offered a special concert by the Eagles at the Louis II Stadium for an audience of 15,000 citizens and residents of Monaco and people from neighboring communities.


The civil wedding

On Friday July 1st, Prince Albert and Charlene’s civil wedding took place in the Throne Room of the Prince's Palace. After the ceremony, the newly-wedded couple appeared on the balcony of the Salon des Glaces, where they shared a kiss.


The religious wedding

The religious wedding took place in the Main Courtyard of the Prince's Palace on Saturday July 2nd. The gates of the Palace were left open so that around 3,500 people could follow the ceremony, which was broadcast on giant screens on the Palace Square.

The couple later left the Palace for Sainte Dévote church, where Princess Charlene left her wedding bouquet on the altar of the Virgin.



The gala dinner

In the evening, the official gala dinner was served on the Opéra terraces, where the couple cut their magnificent five-tier wedding cake, followed by fireworks and the opening of the Ball in the Opéra.
